The Difference Between Christians and Missionaries
Jesus said to His disciples:
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. – Acts 1:8
“You will be my witnesses” That is what every Christian is – a witness.
Nowhere in Scripture are Christians taught:
- to go out and get people saved
- become a professional missionary or start a missionary ‘society’
- that church planting was a primary task of the church
- to be ‘missional’ in the modern, new calvinist understanding of the term.
Brethren, such understandings are a result of those driven to exalt positions not found in Scripture. They are ‘cliques’.
They are popular cliques, indeed, but they are not to be found in Scripture.
