Over the years I’ve been asked more times than I can remember what the name, or title ‘5ptsalt’ means. “Where did you get that idea from?” “It’s because you’re a Calvinist, right?”
Ok, instead of repeating the same thing over and over again to individuals, I’ll just tell all of you. That way, we can both save time, can’t we?
Yes. It’s called 5ptsalt because I am, indeed, a Baptist (which, if one truly is, is a Calvinist).
Second, yes, I live a rocks throw from a street that is called, 5Points Rd. No kidding. Convenient, isn’t it?
But that’s not why this blog is called 5ptsalt.
I didn’t know about the street name until long after I’d started this blog, but, I have to admit, it tickled me afterwards.
I got the name while reading an article. I forgot what it was, but it was written by some Arminian arm-chair theologian who wrote something to the effect of “They can sprinkle their their five point salt wherever they want to but….”
…and…I wrote it down on a napkin, smeared with the glorious nuance of a chili dog with onions, dijon mustard, sweet pickle relish and a bun so fresh I can still remember it.
It was a moment.
I’m not responsible, nor am I concerned.
Moreover, I began to think, what does Christianity not cover in life? It covers everything. Seriously, how many foods that you eat do you put salt on or in?
Now you know.
