Evangelist vs Pastor-Teacher
What’s the difference between the two?
An evangelists deals with proclaiming the Gospel, primarily to unbelievers, and is not one to rely upon for the teaching and edification of the local church. This man is needed to reach the unbelieving world in places where the Gospel has not been preached.
A Pastor-Teacher, given the charge as a shepherd and overseer of the local church, deals with the whole counsel of God, instructing the local congregation towards growth in the knowledge of Jesus Christ, the doctrines of grace, instructions towards Christian maturity and the training and equipping of them to carry out the great commission.
An evangelist is not a pastor-teacher, but a pastor-teacher, as well as every Christian, is always an evangelist when opportunity arises.
