Arkansas vs Texas 1981

You may (or may not) be wondering why I would post highlights of a football game from 1981. Good question. I have reasons, but no solid theological answer for you, sorry.

Reasons? Ah…

  1. I’m physically able.
  2. The game is of significant history, if you happen to be a Razorback.
  3. I was there, somewhere around the 40 yard line….on the Razorback side of course.

Why is it significant? Because these are highlights of a Razorback blowout of the then #1 ranked team in the nation, the Texas Longhorns (phht) vs the mighty impressive, always admired and passionately loved (yet not idolized..well by Christians anyway) Arkansas Razorbacks.

The much beloved Lou Holtz was our coach, and that year, he was the coach. With 8 forced turnovers, we slam-dunked those puny little calves (I say that with love) inside their 20-yard line many, many times. “We” went on to win by the largest margin of victory in any Razorback game, ever…and, for the first time in the history of Razorback stadium…the goal posts came down. It was truly amazing.

Did I mention that I was there and witnessed the absolute slaughter game itself?

If I recall, I lost my voice screaming about 15 minutes after the initial kick-off. If you were there, I’m sure you did as well.

Oh, did I mention the final score? I think it was..umm….let me check…yes, yeah, it was 42 to 11 in favor of ….”us”.

Bottom line? Simple. I can’t recall ever before being able to address the world, and particularly the state of Texas regarding this game….until now. So, if you will indulge me this one thing…with no true malice towards Texas….

Texas who?????? BAM!! w00t!! Woooooo Piiiiigggg Soooie! Oh, and “Take that you smelly Longhorns!! You’ve been tusked!

Thank you very much.
