An Open Challenge to Dan Phillips
Update: 6/14/2012 My attempt to open up a dialogue with Dan Phillips of ‘Teampyro’ on a salvific issue has been unsuccessful. Dan thinks my sincere question a ‘waste of time’. He’s wrong. It should be discussed. – JT
Dan, you are dispensationalist. I think we both would agree to that. You are a member of ‘TeamPyro’, obvious. Phil’s gone, Frank remains silent on the subject (because he’s Amill and reluctant to speak with me or anyone else on the matter, for obvious reasons), so, I’m asking you to edify the Church by answering this question.
God Almighty, in His infallible, inerrant, written Word has declared before all men that Christ Jesus will not return to this earth to deal with sin in any way other than judgment.
And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him. – Hebrews 9:27-28 (emphasis mine)
As a dispensationalist, you say He will deal with the sin of geo-political Israel and agree with MacArthur in regards to the alleged future salvation of a people who currently despise and hate Christ, the Messiah, yet you claim will one day have opportunity for repentance and salvation when Christ returns.
Given Hebrews 9:27, 28, you stand in opposition to the Word of God, while propagating a teaching that completely undermines the Gospel.
Why? Your answer brother?

Joel,
I hope you get an answer, but doubt you will.
…but just in case you do, could you then challenge him to stop constantly hawking his books? He can’t seem to go more than 3 tweets of Facebook posts without mentioning TWTG or his book on Proverbs. It’s very annoying.
Then, Sergius, why not just stop liking him on Facebook and following him on Twitter?
because occasionally he has valuable contributions that are free of commercial content.
Well here’s the rub,and a simple one at that, Romans 16:17;
Now I beseech you brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned ; and avoid them .
So here are a few questions.
Is doctrine important?
Is Dan Phillips preaching another gospel?
Should we avoid Dan Phillips?
Who can blame Dan Phillips for not replying. If by not answering a question, he is talked about, what would happen if he did reply?
Some people seem to not realize that this issue is *not* about Dan Phillips and Joel Taylor, but what the Word of God says on when the opportunity for repentance and heeding the call of the Gospel ends. If anyone teaches something that is clearly contrary to the whole counsel of Scripture, he is to be corrected. If Dan Phillips thinks that is a “waste of time.” then that is unfortunate for him. A little more humility, I think, is in order.
Mr. Taylor has consistently encouraged people to correct him where correction was given. I do not agree with him on at least one major issue, but his spirit is such that he can handle honest and fair criticism.
I do agree with Joel on this. But I also think people can hold these errors in their heads inconsistently while still holding to the five solas. They simply are unable to see why or where it contradicts.
I have many dispensational friends who have tried to explain it to me… I simply do not get it at ALL. It gets more confusing the more they try and explain. How much more obvious can Paul be when he says “not everyone born of Israel is Israel”? Obviously we’re talking two definitions of the word Israel, a literal one and a spiritual one. That all by itself kind of pulls the foundation out of dispensationalism’s claims to be so literal in their understanding of Israel.
” what would happen if he did reply?”
He should try it, he might like it. Frank sure seems to whenever he’s talked about.
Maybe someone can explain to me the relative importance of this topic in relation to other topics. Is a discussion of this nature unnecessarily divisive? Christ’s doctrine was certainly divisive, but not unnecessarily so (Mat. 12:20). Perhaps Turk is a weaker brother, perhaps Dan Philips is, perhaps you are, JT, perhaps I am. What does love require of us?
“And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.” – (1 Corinthians 13:2 KJV)
I speak from my own experiences. There is enough division in the body of Christ without fomenting more. 1 Cor. 8:11-13 refers to more than just meat. We need to discern between issues that are worth dividing over and issues that are not. Sometimes our relationships are worth more than being right.
Eric, is a false promise of SALVATION an issue worth dividing over? You bet it is. That is what this is about. A false promise of salvation. It seems you would have me to love, and tolerate a lie, leaving many in darkness regarding the truth as it is in God’s Word. You are going to be disappointed my friend. Dispensationalism promises salvation after the second coming of Christ, and you would have me be silent. I will not. Good day.
