I’m thinking this is spot-on! This very Truth was what caused my soul to grieve when I worked in the marketing department for a large PC company – I hated being part of the system that “created demand” for new stuff when the old stuff was fine. This drains money away from better uses – such as sending Bibles to China.
I’ve been blessed with a godly wife who gets this – most of the time (except for red kitchen appliances) and we have lived below our means for many years. The Lord has been teaching us to to not love the things of the world, yet enjoy what He richly bestows upon us – for the glory of His name and the good of His people.
What exactly is the deal with red kitchen stuff? That’s the color of choice in our home as well.
