He summed up pretty well why we finally left our previous church of 10 years. After several years of contending for Truth, having failed to keep my children safe from the programs, we left. And find ourselves with others who have done likewise in many ways.
It’s true – the sheep of the Lord know His voice.
The Apostle Paul, in writing to Timothy, who was pastoring in that heathen city of Ephesus – note his instructions: “Preach the Word.”
Not cater to their culture, not try to be like them to reach them, not do a study and find out what they’re looking for in a “church”, just “preach the Word.”
It saddens me that we seemingly have a lot of pastors who are ashamed of the Gospel. Thank the Lord for men like Paul Washer, John MacArthur and a few others who faithfully preach and live as men of God; not men-pleasers.
Can I ask a question? Why is it such a cursed thing to address a group with the Gospel in a culturally-conducive way? I see Paul doing that on Mars Hill in Athens, and I see Jesus doing that in the way he interacted with different people. If someone can provide me with a solid answer, I am willing to listen.
Thank you.
