(CNN) — Two Georgia men have filed suit claiming that prominent Atlanta pastor Eddie Long coerced them into sex.
The suits, filed Tuesday in DeKalb County, Georgia, allege that Long used his position as a spiritual authority and bishop to coerce young male members and employees of his New Birth Missionary Baptist Church into sex.
"Defendant Long has a pattern and practice of singling out a select group of young male church members and using his authority as Bishop over them to ultimately bring them to a point of engaging in a sexual relationship," the suits allege.
Long is considered one of the nation’s top black preachers.
According to the report by CNN, the suits being filed against Long state that Long claims the sexual relationships were ‘religious in nature’.

This trend of inapproriate and sexually related claims of misconduct seems to be on the rise in the prosperity preachers’ camp. Such news would have made the Apostle Paul fly off his handle if he even heard there was an small hint of deception in a church. Let alone rumours arising about a pastor. I dont know the truth in all the news yet but surely the damage to the name of Christ is already done.
Well, is something true just because someone sues? I think history is clear on that point. It is very true pastors have a higher standard than a secular one, including their reputation in the public as well as pulpit. Pastor Long can either be truthful, but doesn’t have to air his laundry ala reality tv, or he can go the Liberty “factual mis-statement route”. In any case, I am normally more suspicious of the media, so-called Christian or not, then I am of the objects of reporting.
Long has long preached heresy and attracted people who want to be gods. Any downfall by such a false teacher doesn’t surprise me. But one can see in the “secular” news report that the name of the Lord is being profaned by this event (and many others like it) and that will pile up judgment upon judgment for the false teachers and those who clamor for them.
Remember the celeb pastor who lied about his homo relationship and taking meth? The media is lousy, but why the ‘false’ accusations now?
He might or might not be guilty. Time will tell.
But dont be surprised if Bisop Eddie Long becomes even more famous and accomodating to all people groups….the trend has long been established. Most fallen preachers if not scripturally rebuked, disciplined and gracefully restored will eventually drift towards a vague inclusive form of christianity.
