“How do you feeeeeeel about that, Peter?” From what my wife told me, this is how BSF works – nobody can put down anyone’s opinion. “God” speaks to people in many ways – whichever way feeeeeels good to you.
I was a discussion leader in BSF for 4 years and we were specifically trained to steer people away from subjectivism and private interpretation. However, due to very strict time constraints it was often not feasible to do so in our discussion periods. I would always try to privately shepherd those men in how to interpret the Bible when the opportunity came up.
Manfred…i agree with your wife. I used to attend BSF for one course and stopped after that one course because not only can you not speak against what anybody says..you are also not allowed to bring Christmas cards or other personal notes to anyone in your group because they do not want to give anyone the chance to possibly speak out to another one about anything being taught, etc. …i found this very strange and disturbing…almost cult-like..
I love the comparison to karma… now that definitely showed this group was headed in a great expository direction !
Yea, when we focus on how we feeeeeeeel about what or who God is, we are on the road to hell. God gets replaced by a god that we design that could never cause anything to happen that would not be comfortable in our wittle, wittle, bitty, bitty, lives…
After I finished throwing up, I just had to write. This is so typical of what passes for ‘Bible Study’ even in supposedly good churches today. I hear from people somewhat frequently about their experiences and this skit was fairly representative of reality.
These are mice not men. This supposed leader of the study needs to grow some masculinity and some Bible knowledge. When someone makes a wrong assessment of scripture, it is the leader’s job to gently and productively steer them into the truth. God may speak to people in different ways but He NEVER speaks by contradicting Himself.
I know this is just a skit but man, it got me riled…No more evanjellyfish with their ishy, squishy, little furball god…we need real men and women who have God’s power and courage to learn and believe the truth!!!
Wow…will have to put up more videos like this, love to hear Truthinator talk about, “ishy, squishy, little furball god…;) How many times have we all been in a ‘study’ like this, where we get to blather on about the god of our own minds?! Thanks for posting!

Todd summed it up well
