I Sought The Lord, And Afterward I Knew
The words of this Hymn express the glorious truth of God seeking out and regenerating those who were given to the Son for redemption. Grace!
I sought the Lord, and afterward I knew
He moved my soul to seek him, seeking me;
It was not I that found, O Savior true,
No, I was found of thee.Thou didst reach forth thy hand and mine enfold;
I walked and sank not on the storm—vexed sea,
’Twas not so much that I on thee took hold,
As thou, dear Lord, on me.I find, I walk, I love, but, O the whole
Of love is but my answer, Lord, to thee;
For thou wert long beforehand with my soul,
Always thou lovedst me.Anon., c. 1904

Beautiful and truthful words, the song of a grateful heart, to the praise of the Savior!
“But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”
Amen, Amen, and Amen! Too many people take an arminian interpretation from John 1:12-13 but it is a claer picture of God’s grace displayed in His sovereign election!
Hello, I am looking for this song sung by a solo male singer. Any links to where I may find it? Thank you very much in advance.
