Looks like he missed one I was told many times in my previous church. As a preface to blowing off any concerns the layman might have, these “pastors” would say, “I know your heart …” LIARS! They don’t know their own hearts!
Ha ha I see a good recipe for church demembership when caught gracing the threshold of my mega church with a copy of this book. But first lots of de-friending on FaceBook. That is why I love this book; will buy one for my pastor. Hope I live to tell you what happens…if he does not call fire down on my neck. – Acidris Blog
How about “We are under grace now not the law” . I heard that one recently. We are still under everything the Bible teaches that is addressed to believers but many people think they can do what they want since the law is no longer in effect. Where do they get this stuff? From preachers who give misleading teachings.
Also, how about confusing the rules of the cliques for the laws of God. That would also be a good topic for a truthful discourse
thanks for the link. I plan to download this book.
I read about half the book and quit. The author uses the wretched TNIV as his “Bible” and sees the Song of Solomon as license to enjoy ungodly culture. He appears to downplay the Law as a guide for living, although he rightly emphasizes the first purpose of the Bible as revealing God to man. All in all, worth every cent.
His 7th chapter is pretty off base. He is clearly sounding like someone wanting to justify watching and listening to ungodly movies and music.
I listened to just as much secular music as anyone else at one time. And then I went to a site called The Industry Exposed which is actually run by a non-believer and even the owner of that site can see the satanic and occultic influences in the entertainment industry.
His justifications as to why being entertained by ungodly sources is not wrong are really weak as well. The whole reason there are “stories” of sex, rape, violence, and murder is because it points out how the world acts without God and Jesus. Those stories are simply a way to show how destitute we are without God and Jesus. He of all people should realize that since he mentions that very fact in his 2nd chapter.
Secular entertainment is not used in that manner. I wish I could get a hold of him as he is clearly in error in this regard. I’ve been doing a lot of research on all media and entertainment (secular and “Christian”) and unfortunately most of it is evil and this is coming from someone who used to listen to Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Mariah Carey. So I’m not just some “holier than thou” type of person. I’m simply being a watcher right now.
A.J. I agree with you. I do not agree with chapter 7. We are to guard our eyes and ears from sinful things. We are IN this world, but not OF this world. I did not read that chapter before I passed it on to friends and family. I had to go back and share the above statement i made about chapter 7 with them. Thanks for pointing this out!
Thank you for making this available! My husband and I were delivered from these statements and I just emailed this download to some friends and family who still believe this to be the Truth.
I had issue recently with the generational curse thing. My take on that one is this; Christ knows exactly what we did before we came to Him, the day we did it, the time we did it. Everything about us is logged in His book. You see it here: Revelation 20:12. Therefore, why would Christ expect us to come to Him trying to remember every single thing we did wrong? We couldn’t do it. We never kept books on every evil thing we committed before coming to Him in repentance! We don’t ever consider ourselves to be wrong before we come to Him. Therefore, we cannot keep account. Also, each generation that passes have to repent of their own sins. How do wee know if someone in our family tree repented or not? We won’t until we come before Christ.
“That will make you sin” — oh man, people are still on the death metal thing making people into violent criminals. No, they ARE hateful violent criminals and imbibe exactly what they like to imbibe.
I enjoyed this as well (I didn’t read all of it), but I found the ‘I Feel The Spirit’ chapter to be especially applicable to my regions Christendom. The one that I missed that I hear so often now is “God doesn’t hate anyone, he is love”. Try telling that to Esau.
I liked all the chapters except 7th n 8th..bout chapter 7 I guess A.J above has put it the way I would have put it..
am a little in disagreement with 8th because though the bible doesnt at all say about as speakin things into existence, we live by faith and faith is believin the unseen as if they were seen.. Now whatever we confess with our mouth n hearts will in turn influence our faith, so if we confess positive things our faith will also focus on the positive..and so 4 th negative..
