From the Liberty Student News:
“Liberty University announced today that it found that Caner has made “factual statements that are self-contradictory” concerning “dates, names and places of residence.“ The statements included his description of being raised as a Muslim in Turkey, when documents indicate he moved to the United States at the age of 4.
Supposedly his contract was up on June 30th, and will not be renewed to be dean. But he’ll remain as faculty.”
It’s about time, isn’t it?…Now the only question is, why in the world is Liberty retaining him as a professor??? Un-be-lievable.
OK, so Liberty admits Caner is a liar. They will not renew him as dean but they retain him as professor… On what planet do we live? Surely we live upon one with no good sense left in it…
Look, I was not against Caner unless he was a liar and apparently he is based upon the proof that is out there. This is not a kick Caner because he is probably an Arminian campaign. If Liberty admits he is a liar, why do they retain him to teach young and impressionable kids? Astoundingly poor judgement. I would not send my neighbor’s dog to Liberty! I hope parents of current Liberty students give this close attention.
I was enrolled in Liberty’s online bachelors program and one of my classes was conducted by Ergun Caner. Since that time I have come to embrace reformed theology and left Liberty. I am glad that this charlatan was called to the carpet and exposed. He took advantage of the tragedy of 911. I knew a few people who died in the attacks and it is sad that a Christian, or so called Christian would fabricate a whole testimony about his life to propel himself into the lime light. How can this be for the Glory of Christ when it is all based on hypocrisy and lies. So Liberty is hiring a liar to teach Seminary????? OK what am I missing here? Are you kidding me??? They fired him as President for lying but rehired him as a professor. What in the world is he going to teach? Unless he publicly comes clean and repents for his hypocrisy who in their right mind would want to sit in his class? I am beside myself!!

I’m not sticking up for him, but they didn’t declare him guilty of anything major. You might want to re-read their statement. Their statement and your interpretation of it are worlds apart.
Nothing major? Making self-contradictory statements is a lawyer’s way of saying that LU determined Caner lied. Now, since this is about all we know of the findings, it is a fair question to ask why LU retained him as a professor. If his infractions were serious enough to have him not be renewed as dean or whatever, why wouldn’t these infractions also prevent him from being retained as professor? This doesn’t make sense…
I think the LU statement and our interpretation are in line.
Actually, as a LU Alumn, it makes me sad for the university and everyone involved. First of all, he was not truthful in everything he said…have you ever been less than truthfull…maybe you should be fired and never given another chance. I understand your concerns and have concerns myself, but I do believe that he genuinely cares for the students at LU. Many of the same people who want to crucify Caner are the same people who would have taken up for Clinton and his lies and sexual escapdes that tarnished the presidency. Why will you forgive one and not the other? Just some thoughts. If you get a chance, please come and check out my site at chanceman4.
