The question of origins is one of the most significant that a person ever faces: where we came from is crucial to understanding who we are and where we are going. Whether the world was created or has evolved has been a major point of controversy in philosophy, religion, politics and science for the last 200 years. There is no doubt that the biblical vision of man as God’s creature, whom He made in his own image, has had the most powerful effect on human dignity, on liberty, on the expansion of the rights of the individual, on political systems, on the development of medicine, and on every other area of culture.
How different from the humanistic viewpoint of man as merely an evolved creature; not made in God’s image because there is no God! Such a premise has enabled the Marxist totalitarian states conveniently to liquidate millions of their citizens because of the assumption that there is no transcendent person in whose image those citizens are created, no being to give those citizens a dignity and a right to exist beyond what the state determines.

“Whether the world was created or has evolved has been a major point of controversy in philosophy, religion, politics and science for the last 200 years.”
Not in science. Every single serious biologist in the world accepts evolution as a basic scientific fact.
Your problem is you’re not interested in the truth. Also, you’re not interested in educating yourself. You just want to bury your head in the sand so you don’t have to watch the rest of the world leave you behind in your Dark Ages fantasy world.
Interestingly, I know physicists who believe in creation. Its just not popular in the “scientific” community because the high priests of evolution condemn and attack anyone who disagrees with them.
Human Ape- When you say ‘serious biologist,’ what do you mean?
Not to sound unfriendly, but Human Ape’s response is ridiculous and a conversation stopper. I, for one, am neither swayed nor intimidated by this language. The truth is, people like this are the real ones with their heads in the sand.
There is so much evidence that the evolutionary “scientific” community oppresses it;s not even funny. How about, for one, the COMPLETE LACK OF ANY CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE, WHATSOEVER, FOR MACRO EVOLUTION. Or how about the Cambrian Explosion, which “science” tries in vain to skip over all of the time…heaping on theory after theory after theory in order to avoid the truth that the evidence does, in fact support a shorter time for man on earth as well as obvious design elements.
Human Ape, have the guts to research ALL of the evidence with an open mind. Stop the name-calling and do your homework.
Doug Kelly is apparently blatantly ignorant of the history of the church. They have been entirely oppressive on human rights.
Charles Darwin’s book, Origin of the Species, was published 11 years after Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto. So how could evolution have influenced Marx? More than a decade later it helped explain life to him, but it was not causal. Europe had been plagued and controlled by Christianity for centuries. It was that evil Marx was protesting against. Russia itself had a Christian emperor, the Czar. Those who know the history of Russia know that under the name of God untold millions were persecuted, tortured and killed.
There were many bloody wars in Europe under the name of God. The oppression of the Church kept men ignorant. Europeans fled the old world to come to the new world to get away from such oppression and turned around and did the same to each other. The holy Christians who came to the new world justified their genocide by savagely killing nearly all the American Indians. They enslaved blacks from Africa and brought them here. Both of these were done with the blessings of God. After all they were non-believers. This behavior was straight from the Bible. Read it. It is estimated that God directly or told Israel to kill nearly 2 million people (every man, woman and child). No where in the Bible does it condemn slavery. A side note Darwin was terribly appalled at the sight of slavery. He didn’t believe like the most of Christianity that blacks had the mark of Ham (Noah’s son-please read Genesis 9). The history of the church is exhaustive with the drenched soak blood of non-believers as well as believers.
And you praise the church for medicine. The church has always been opposed to science because it breaks their hold on the ignorant. The church persecuted many great scientist even some who were believers. Read this long history of 500 years of persecution.

or in Mr Kelly’s case those who twist it.
It mystifies me how anyone can take the Biblical story of Genesis as real history. It doesn’t even hold up to the simplest of logic or basic reasoning, because Genesis 2 tells a different order of creation than Genesis 1.
It’s not like these are details which are hard to uncover and take a keen analytical mind: each chapter is a page long. In Genesis 1, man and woman are created after the animals. In chapter 2, Adam is created first, then the animals, then Eve.
Anyone who can believe that two entirely different orders of events are both true is not someone I can take seriously. Given the low bar of brainpower it takes to figure this out, I’m not at all surprised that such people are incapable of fathoming the incredibly more complex and difficult-to-understand concept of Evolution.
Thanks, Trike for showing us how low the bar is actually set… Duh, I don’t know if I can finish typing this or not…Duh, I ‘m a stupd Christian who believes the Bible …Duh!
Just having fun at your expense. The Bible is not intellectually accessible. You nor anyone has the capacity to go toe to toe with God. I pray you can see the power of truth in scripture. I also once thought that evolution was the how and God was the who. I was dead wrong. Either the Genesis account is correct or God cannot be trusted. I go with the former. Oh, and Genesis does not contradict itself, you simply do not understand. Take care.
