Timmy Brister has written an outstanding post on the subject of forgiveness and reconciliation with those whom we are at odds. He covers some questions we’ve all had, and has done an excellent job in pointing us in the right direction. I was blessed by this, hope you will be as well. Read it!
I think conditional forgiveness puts the actions of man in the line of command for an act of God. If forgiveness of sins is part of God’s redemption of sinners, His choice of the elect is unconditional – not dependent on anything of man – and irrevocable – not subject to man’s veto.
As we go on and sin, we are to be a continuing state of repentance and forgiveness. In as much as our relationship with our Father goes, we are to be repentant and forgiving as He has been – this assures us of being like Him as His Spirit grants us the grace to be humble, etc.
It’s all God – man responds as God grants.
