I would sit under that man’s teaching! Praise God for faithful men who do not shrink from teaching the WHOLE counsel of God’s Word! A couple years ago, I was convicted by overhearing a conversation between two of my friends in which a pastor was asking the other whether or not he was sure he was in Christ. That got me thinking. I concluded that what I had called a personal revival was my salvation, based primarily on 1 John. Before that day in 1994, though I had been baptized as a child and told I was a Christian, I did not love the people of God. Wanted to get away from the church building as soon as the service was over. Among the many changes God wrought in my wretched heart that June day was a genuine love for the brotherhood of Christ. People in my church took note, as did my dear wife and kids.
All too often, people are given false assurance when what we all need is the clear teaching of the Word – that we might be convicted of sin and brought near to God.
To God alone be all blessing and glory and honor and power forever!
Our local Baptist church sings the praises of Robert Schuller and others on TBN and not Jesus. Another one a little further is a ‘Word of Faith’ church all about ‘prosperty’. There are a couple of Catholic churches around us. Do you think we should go to just any church? As long as it calls itself a ‘church’?

Absolutely not. On the other hand, we shouldn’t become so discouraged because of such a situation, that we stop looking for the real one, or use it as an excuse to forsake assembling together with fellow saints.
Thanks Joel – I am not so discouraged … every since I found amazing sites, like yours and others on the internet. Everyday I hear of so much rubbish going on it is frightening. I think, most of the new ones, are only into the money they think it will bring in.
Here’s the scary thing though, I so love not being in a church, I am so content. I just fellowship with other Christians on the phone, lunch and the internet. Anyhow will start looking again in the new year.
