Compromising Zondervan

Is this anyway to promote anything allegedly ‘Christian’? Here’s the logo Zondervan Publisher’s have come up with to promote the “Booty, God, Booty” illustration in the Stuff Christians Like book.

Is Zondervan even a Christian company anymore? Or were they ever? Maybe the company was just started to make money….you tell me.

I don’t know, is it? Maybe somebody can respond and let us know.

  2. Joel – you are gonna love Booty God Booty today… because it’s bringing people to your site. God works in crazy ways we could never understand.

Here’s the explanation for the image and saying from the author himself: http://stuffchristianslike.net/2009/10/booty-god-booty-remix/#

Joel, I’m assuming you wouldn’t go to the trouble of posting this logo without knowing what it’s about, but you’ve been quite disingenuous with your readers by not filling in the blanks for them. This comes from a post on Jon Acuff’s Stuff Christians Like blog, which is incredibly hilarious, real, and points us all towards living out our salvation through daily choices. Jon realized he was living a booty, God, booty life. The logo reminds us NOT to sandwich God in between episodes of “riotous living”. There is no compromise here, it is just the opposite! We who are called by Christ’s name had better live His life, in every choice, and not just conform to whatever Christian lifestyle is in favor at our particular church or Seminary. Booty, God, Booty is Christian living at its most basic, not ivory – tower rhetoric. Take it or leave it alone.
