Children should hear the gospel and should be given the opportunity to receive Christ. They have a greater capacity to understand than we give them credit for.
I believe that Gospel of Matthew 19:14 says it all! “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
