John Eidsmoe reports this morning over at Firm Foundation (The Blog of The Foundation For Moral Law) that the University of Notre Dame has invited pro-life Catholic scholar and former Vatican Ambassador Mary Ann Glendon to speak at Notre Dame and to award  to her the Laetare Medal, an annual award in recognition of outstanding service to the Roman Catholic church and society.

Glendon, however, saw through the act as Notre Dame’s way of smoothing over the fallout of ND’s recent pro-abortion controversies, and has refused both the Laetare Medal, and the opportunity to speak at Notre Dame.
