Anyone with a proper knowledge of American history knows that in early America, in the days of men like John Witherspoon, pastor and signer of the Declaration of Independence, the pulpit was the cradle of American liberty. It still should be.
Where God’s Word thundered from the pulpits, was feared, and men with contrite hearts trembled at sermons demanding submission to the only King, Christ Jesus, there you would find a propensity to put government in its proper, biblical place, an institution ordained of God for the purpose of restraining sin in society, and a servant of the people…I’ll say that again, a servant of the people.
This morning I read that Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller is warning state local governments to ‘marry gays – or else’. According to Mr. Miller “We must live by and follow what the courts decide.” Mr. Miller, if you were not so busy towing the political line, busying yourself with self-preservation and accolades of men, and if you had any integrity and respect for the legal profession, you would know that the courts do not, constitutionally speaking, make the laws of this land, or your state.
Then we have the news of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee passing a ‘hate crimes’ bill in a 15-12 vote in favor of legislation that supporters admit could be used to bring charges against religious leaders. The bill, H.R. 1913, now will be considered by the full House of Representatives. Wake up America!
The threat, both physically and otherwise is great. I continue to receive emails from gay-rights supporters such as this one, with ominous threats to local churches:
Now that two 11-year-old boys have committed suicide this past week, I am EVEN MORE driven to do “radical” actions in an effort to bring attention to our cause. For the record, if you think that DEMANDING WITHOUT APOLOGY what is ALREADY DUE TO ME is “radical”, well then – that is YOUR problem.
So I’m afraid that violence against an institution’s property MAY need to be the next step. I don’t know. Something needs to change NOW.
We are harmed by legal inequity.
YOU are not.
That may need to change as people like YOU try to insert your “religion” into CIVIL LAW.-JB
In yet another example of political correctness run amuck, here is a bill, HR 1913, that shows favoritism and federally preferred status to wickedness before a Holy God! And who will speak up against it? Who will protest? Where are the pastor’s, called of God Himself who will thunder truth from the pulpits this Sunday against this abominable act by our government?
Yes, I know, there are pastors and Christians alike, everywhere, who continue to put forth the lie that we should “submit” to government rule no matter what they do. Even if it is ungodly, wicked, an abomination before God. Well, they are wrong, biblically wrong. Few passages have been more abused in the context of submission than Romans 13 and Titus 3, both by politicians, pastor’s and some very well known bloggers!
Redemption does not come from Washington. It is not to be your god. If it is, you are an idolater! If you fear government more than the One who reigns on high, right now, you are an idolater! If you pledge allegiance to anyone or anything, other than Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of All, you are an idolater!
This attempt by our local and national governments to silence the truth by silencing the pastor-teachers is to be opposed, and loudly.
Our founding fathers, those men who feared God more than tyranny, those beloved Patriots cried out “We have no king, but King JESUS” and “Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God.” Jesus is either Lord of all or He is not Lord at all!
