If you are truly a child of God, you have been called to participate in the Great Commission of Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:18-20). Knowing that, how would you answer this man’s objections to Christianity? How would you approach witnessing to this young man? Are you sure you’re ready to present the Gospel? Where would you even begin? Think….I will post later on this… - JT
Faith is a gift from God. Let us all pray that this young man has the courage to accept the gift.
I’ll amen that! But I wouldn’t leave it to this young mans courage…God must move first!
We should remember that even if he ‘has the courage’ he still cannot come to Christ, unless the Father draws him. (John 6:44 (ESV))
I find this video amusing. I am not sure if it is a real person with valid questions or a put on. Either way, it is an argument that most Christians would have a difficult time in answering. First of all, it is based soley on human logic, if I can’t define it logically, it can not possible exist in reality. This is a hard one to deal with because it doesn’t recognize the reality of faith. If I were to engage this person ina conversation about the existance og God, I would probably question first the beging of energy. I would want to know its origins. From there I would want to take a look at the inherent design of different things. Take birds, how did they learn THAT they could fly. I mean consider their brain size. With that small of a thinker, how did they figure out all of the extremely complicated navigation that is required to fly up into a tree, turn left then right then left again and then come to a comlete stop with no landing room to slow down. Even with our most sophisticated computer programs, we can’t even come close to that level of precision. The point I am trying to make is that we, as Christians, need to understand that human logic will not always respond to a standard set of verse quotations. The Word of God is a powerful thing to be sure, but the deception of human requires us to present God as the ultimate source of energy and the ultimate designer of all of creation. i do not meen this in some sort of metaphysical, new-age way but as THE supreme being in the universe. From there you can open up why we were created and why we need Jesus. To first gain an understanding of Not just who but what God is is vital.
Just a thought, Glenn
Excellent points, but I’ll hold off from too much of a comment until I post my own response to this young man, which I hope to do this weekend. In the meantime, some of the same issues you bring up were mentioned in a recent video by John Piper on ‘pre-existing matter’ and, yes ‘energy’. he makes the point that first, there was only Life, nothing else, not even energy, then God created the ‘energy’ as part of His creation. You can see the video here if you’d like.
